Indian arrivals rise 6.5% in November

Country exceeds seven million arrivals in first 11 months of 2015.

India’s international visitor arrivals increased 6.5% in November 2015.

According to the latest data from the country’s Ministry of Tourism, India welcomed 815,000 visitors in the month, compared to 765,000 in November 2014. Tourism revenues during the month increased 1.6% to INR116.1 billion (US$1.75bn). The USA was India’s largest source market in the month, accounting for 15.8% of total arrivals, followed by Bangladesh (12.3%), the UK (11.0%), Canada (4.5%) and Australia (4.2%). And Delhi Airport handled 31.6% of arriving visitors, ahead of Mumbai Airport (17.7%), Chennai Airport (7.4%), the Haridaspur land border that connects India with Bangladesh (7.1%), and Bengaluru Airport (6.3%).
