Indian arrivals edge higher in February

Country sees 0.5% monthly rise in overseas visitors

International visitor arrivals to India continued to climb in February 2015, but at a slower rate than in previous months.

The country welcomed a total of 761,000 overseas visitors last month, just 0.5% higher than the 758,000 arrivals seen in February 2014. This compares to a growth rate of 4.0% in January 2015 and a revised full-year increase of 10.6% in 2014.

The US accounted for 13.4% of total overseas arrivals to India in February 2015, making it the country’s largest source market. The UK (13.2% of the total) was second, with Bangladesh (11.3%), Canada (4.5%), France (3.7%), Germany (3.6%), Sri Lanka (3.5%), Malaysia (3.3%), Russia (3.0%) and Japan (2.7%) completing the top 10.
