The Horton Plains

Horton Plains are close to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka's highest and most isolated plateau. Home for many wild yet harmless animals and the home of many species of birds. The Horton Plains National Park is the only National Park situated in the Hill Country.

Yala National Park

Situated 309 km. south of Colombo, Yala is located in the south eastern corner of the island. Its northern boundaries border on the Lahugala Elephant Sanctuary and it has the added bonus of a scenic ocean fr
ontage.

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage

At this orphanage you will find elephants of all ages that have been abandoned or otherwise unable to fend for themselves as they are injured or too old to fend for themselves. The unique feature is that one could feed the baby elephants with bottles of milk during the feeding times. The elephants are also given a bath daily in a river located across the orphanage.
