This itinerary covers the following destinations : Delhi - Bagdogra - Darjeeling - Pemayangtse - Gangtok - Phodung - Tashiding - Kalimpong - Bagdogra - Delhi

Day 1 : Arrival Delhi

The colour & romance of India welcomes you with arms wide open as you reach Delhi. The aroma of Indian traditions gets hold of you in a fascinating way. The capital of India, Delhi, is one of the liveliest places in the whole world with something exciting & unexpected always happening at every corner every moment. For a first time visitor, it serves as a perfect start to a journey towards cultural wealth, different religious beliefs and the dynamisms of India. Delhi can often be both, a melting pot as well as a mosaic of cultures & a keen traveller can take back with him a multitude of experiences.

Welcome meet with our representative and assistance upon arrival, thereafter transfer to the hotel.

Later proceed for a city tour of New & Old Delhi. Visit the buildings of the British era designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate & the Presidential Palace. Continue onto the beautiful Humayun's tomb of the Mughal era (UNESCO World Heritage Site) & a prototype of the world famous Taj Mahal. Later, explore the towering minaret the Qutab Minar( a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Return to the Hotel.

Day 2 : Delhi / Bagdogra / Darjeeling

The morning starts with a drive to the airport to board a flight to Bagdogra. On arrival, we continue by road towards Darjeeling. Perched on a ridge just South of Sikkim, the town boasts fantastic views over neighbouring valleys and the Himalayas. The drive is truly spectacular as you pass through endless tea fields and under brightly coloured prayer flags and the Mount Kanchenjunga is never far out of sight.

Once you arrive, check in at the hotel. Rest of the day would be all yours to let the beauty of the area sink in and later, to take a walk around the Mall for souvenir shopping.

Return to the hotel.

Day 3 : Darjeeling

Darjeeling

Wake up before dawn for a drive to Tiger Hill. (8364 Ft / 2550 Meters at around 4 am) Tiger hill is famous for one of the best views of the sunrise. This is the best spot to see the first rays of the sun kiss the Mount Kanchendzonga and give it a beautiful golden colour. On the way you can enjoy local tea which is a warm welcome on a cold Darjeeling morning. On way back visit the Ghoom Monastery.

After breakfast, transfer to the railway station for a Toy Train ride (Journey time -2hrs.). Visit the Yiga Cholling Monastery, which is about 10kms from the Ghoom Monastery.

In the afternoon, proceed for a half-day sightseeing tour starting with the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda, Circular walk around the Observatory Hill for breathtaking scenes, and later go to the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center (Note : Closed on Sunday).

Proceed to the Padmaja Naidu Himalaya the Zoological Park. Here, you can view various animals found in the Himalayan region. One may often spot Pandas rolling around in the grass or climbing trees.

Later, return to the hotel.

Day 4 : Darjeeling / Pemayangtse

In the morning, proceed to Pemayangtse - The mighty Kanchenjunga overlooks the land of Sikkim and Pemayangtse in Sikkim, close to the Kanchenjunga. Pemayangtse is not a settlement. This is where one of the most spectacular Buddhist Monasteries is located at 6000 feet above sea level, The Pemayangtse Monastery ,is the second oldest Monastery in Sikkim and is the headquarters of the Nyingma Sect. Afterwards, proceed for an excursion to the Tashiding Monastery near Pemayangtse.

Day 5 : Pemayangtse / Gangtok

In the morning, proceed to Gangtok. The state of Sikkim lies in the shadow of the mighty Kanchenjunga and its capital, Gangtok which is a picturesque mountain clinging town with monastaries, parks, pagoda style houses and colourful bazaars. Upon arrival, check into the hotel.

You can enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure to relax and explore Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Enjoy leisurely walks through the scenic hills and the company of the friendly and ever smiling locals who are always willing to lend a helping hand.

Day 6 : Gangtok - Phodung - Gangtok

Start the morning, with a visit to the Monastery at Phodung, en route stop for panoramic view of the Himalayas and later, return to Gangtok. In the afternoon, visit the Research Institute of Tibetology where several splendid rare old books, objects, sacrings, beautifully painted thangkas are on display. Late evening, return to the hotel.

Day 7 : Gangtok - Tashiding - Gangtok

The next morning, proceed for an excursion to Tashiding. Perched on top of the hill rising between the Rathong River and the Rangit River, it provides breathtaking views of the spectacular scenery below. Tashiding Gompa of India dates back to the year 1717, which coincided with the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal. It is located on the site blessed by the great Guru Padmasambhava.

Late evening return to the hotel.

Day 08 : Gangtok

After breakfast, go for sightseeing covering Rumtek Monastery. Originally built by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje in 16th Century, Rumtek served as the main seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Sikkim for some time.

Visit Droul Chorthen, which is the biggest and the most important Stupa in Sikkim, located near Gangtok. It is the most important tourist spot in East Sikkim. Visit the Enchey Monastery.

Go to the Research Institute of Tibetology, The Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom (Note : Closed on Sunday) and finally the Flower Show. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Later, return to the hotel

Day 09 : Gangtok / Kalimpong

Kalimpong

The next morning, proceed to Kalimpong - Situated at an altitude of 1250 meters between the Deolo and Durbindra Hills, Kalimpong is an ideal place for a quiet holiday amidst gently rolling hills and deep valleys at the foot of the mighty Himalayas mountain range.

In the afternoon, visit Pranami Mandir and Bhutanese Gompa. In the evening, visit the Durpin Hills Monastery to attend their evening prayers.

Later, return to hotel.

Day 10 : Kalimpong / Bagdogra / Delhi (Flight)

Early in the morning, head back to Bagdogra airport to board a flight to Delhi. Once you arrive in Delhi, a city tour of New Delhi will take you for a drive around the Old Delhi of the Mughals, comprising of the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid. Also visit Raj Ghat-the final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi. What better way to bid goodbye to India, a fascinating country seeped in culture, religious beliefs, ancient traditions and historical heritage, where each State is completely different from the other.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 : Depart from Delhi

The next morning, departure for the International airport, with assistance to boarding formalities. Board your flight to your onward destination.
