This itinerary covers the following destinations : Delhi - Imphal - Kohima - Shiroi - Sanshak - Jessami - Moirang - Imphal - Delhi
Day
01 : Reach Delhi
Delhi would welcome you with a garland of flowers - Namaste ! Transfer to the hotel.
Day 02 : Delhi
After breakfast, proceed to visit Old Delhi and enjoy the magnificent Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk (Silver Street) and Raj Ghat - the place where Mahatma Gandhi got cremated. Afternoon, proceed to visit New Delhi and drive past the stately government buildings of the British Era designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate & the Presidential Palace.
Continue onto the beautiful Humayun's tomb of the Mughal era & predecessor of the world famous Taj Mahal. End the tour at the towering minaret of Qutab Minar.
Day 03 : Delhi
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day dedicated to visit the National Archives of India. Return back to the hotel.
Day 04 : Delhi
Breakfast at the hotel. Full day dedicated to enjoy the magnificient Delhi and the monuments which are a part of Delhi.
Day 05 : Delhi
Spend the day at your disposal.
Day
06 : Delhi / Imphal
After breakfast leave for the airport to catch a flight for Imphal. Hit Imphal - meet & move to the hotel. In the evening, enjoy the local market.
Day 07 : Imphal / Kohima
Depart for Kohima, the capital city of Nagal. In the afternoon visit : -
a) Kohima war cemetery- This is a symbolic memorial raised as a citation for the supreme human sacrifices made by the officers and men of the allied forces, to halt the tide of the Japanese onslaught during the 2nd world war.
b) The State Museum- where the entire Naga traditional lifestyle has been depicted in dioramas.
c) A shopping round up of daily market and visit Gurttel for Naga fashion mementoes.
Day 08 : Kohima
Visit the Konohoma village, which lies 20km west of Kohima. Its residents had fought a pitched battle against the British who came on an expedition to the Naga Hills in Oct 1879. The original village was burned down in 1957 by the Indian forces during the 2nd world war. Walk down through the narrow streets to visit Dahua, a central meeting place of the Keko Ihukho house, which is beautifully decorated in traditional style.
In the afternoon, visit Viswama village of the Angami tribe. Walk down to explore the village of Angami tribe who have traditional wooden gates which are adorned with human heads and buffalo horns.
Day 09 : Kohima / Imphal
After breakfast depart for Imphal. Reach Imphal in the evening and check into the hotel.
Day 10 : Imphal
Visit :-
a) Manipur State Museum - The museum has a fairly good display of Manipur's tribal heritage and a collection of portraits and items such as costumes, arms and weapons etc of Manipur's former rulers.
b) War Cemetery - The British and the Indian army cemeteries commemorating those who died in the 2nd world war are serene and well maintained with little stone markers and bronze plaques recording their anguish and sacrifice.
c) Saheed Minar - This Minar at Bir Tikandrajit Park in the heart of the capital commemorates the indomitable spirit of Manipur martyrs who sacrificed their lives while fighting against the British in 1891.
In the afternoon, visit :-
a)
Shri Govindajee temple, adjoining the palace of the former rulers
of Manipur, is a historical centre for Vaisnavites. It is a simple and beautiful
structure with twin gold domes and a paved court.
b) Visit IMA market, a unique all women's market in the heart of the town. Later enjoy a tour in and around the city.
Day 11 : Imphal
After breakfast proceed for the excursion to Ukhrul which is 83 kms east of Imphal, is a district head quarter of Manipur East. A centre of the colourful, warrior tribe Tangkhul Nagas. In the evening, visit the town.
Day 12 : Imphal / Shiroi
Morning, drive to Shiroi, famous for a peculiar type of land lily, called the Siroi, grown on the Shiroi hills. In the afternoon, visit Shiroi hills and Khangkhui lime caves.
Day 13 : Shiroi / Sanshak
Drive down to Sanshak, which is 28 kms away from Ukhrul. Sanshak was the last point where the Japanese forces had arrived during the 2nd world War. Sanshak is a very large Tangkhul Village with more than 500 houses. One can get a microscopic view on their traditional life and architecture. Also visit the Tangkhul villages.
Day
14 : Sanshak / Jessami
Start for Jessami, which was also occupied by the Japanese forces during the 2nd World War. The Tangkhuls of Jessami differ slightly in dialect and customs from the Sanshak area.
Day 15 : Jessami / Imphal
Depart for Imphal. Reach and check in to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Langthabal, 8 kms down the Indo-Myanmar road lies this small hill with relics of an old, historical palace, temples of architectural importance and ceremonial houses.
Day 16 : Imphal / Moirang (45 Kms) / Imphal
Morning, depart for Moirang, which is 45 kms away. It was here that the flag of the Indian National Army was first unfurled on April 14th, 1944.
a) Visit the INA museum containing letters, photographs, badges of ranks and other memorabilia and noble sacrifices made by the INA under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Visit one of the main centres of early meitei folk culture with ancient temple of pre-Hindu deity Lord Thangjing, situated here.
b)
Visit Loktak lake and Sendra island which is the largest fresh water
lake in the north east region.
c) Visit Keibul Lamjao National Park which is the only floating National park in the world on the loktak lake is the last natural habitat of "Sangai' the dancing deer of Manipur.
Return to Imphal in the evening.
Day 17 : Imphal / Delhi (IC 980 - 1425 / 1815, Tue & Sun )
In the afternoon, transfer to the airport to catch a flight for Delhi.
Day 18 : Depart Delhi
The whole day at your disposal to relax in the hotel. Late in the evening leave for the International airport to catch a flight for your hometown.
