This itinerary covers the following destinations : Delhi - Patna - Bodhgaya - Varanasi - Kushinagar - Balrampur - Lucknow - Delhi
Day 1 : Arrival Delhi
The colour & romance of India welcomes you with arms wide open as you reach Delhi. The aroma of Indian traditions gets hold of you in a fascinating way. The capital of India, Delhi, is one of the liveliest places in the whole world with something exciting & unexpected always happening at every corner every moment. For a first time visitor, it serves as a perfect start to a journey towards cultural wealth, different religious beliefs and the dynamisms of India. Delhi can often be both, a melting pot as well as a mosaic of cultures & a keen traveller can take back with him a multitude of experiences.
Meeting by our representative and assistance upon arrival, thereafter transfer to the hotel.
Later proceed for a city tour of New & Old Delhi. Visit the buildings of the British era designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate & the Presidential Palace. Continue onto the beautiful Humayun's Tomb of the Mughal Era (UNESCO World Heritage Site) & a prototype of the world famous Taj Mahal. Later explore the towering minaret, the Qutab Minar (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Return to the Hotel.
Day 2 : Delhi - Patna - Bodhgaya
The next morning leave for the airport for a flight to Patna, the Capital city of Bihar - Lord Buddha the gentle colossus who founded the first universal religion of the world, worked and lived much of his life in Bihar though he was born in Lumbini, now in Nepal. Most of the significant events of his life, like achievement of enlightenment and his last sermon took place in Bihar. Significantly, the state's name originated from 'Vihara' meaning Buddhist Monastery.
Later proceed to Bodhgaya which is one of the sacred places for Buddhists as well as for the Hindus. Here under the Bodhi Tree, Gautam attained supreme knowledge to become Buddha, the `Enlighted One'. En route visit Nalanda & Rajgir.
Later return to the hotel.
Day 3 : Bodhgaya - Varanasi
In the morning, explore Bodhgaya and visit the Mahabodi Temple, Niranjana River, Japanese Peace Pagoda & Thai Temple. In the afternoon proceed for Varanasi which is amongst the oldest living cities in the world. Thousands come daily to Varanasi to take a ritual dip in the river Ganga, to cleanse their souls of sins and to worship at many of its Temples.
In the afternoon walk through the narrow lanes and colourful bazaars in the heart of the old city and also visit the temples. The visit includes the famous Kashi Vishwa Nath Temple, Banaras Hindu University and the Durga Temple.
Later return to the hotel.
Day 4 : Varanasi - Kushinagar
Early morning, take a boat ride on the Ganges at dawn when it is full of pilgrims is an amazing place to witness the living traditions of one of the world's oldest and most important religions.
Later visit Sarnath Temple - 5 miles out of Varanasi, Sarnath is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world, where Buddha preached his first Sermon in 590 BC. Sarnath has a fine Museum filled with sculptures found at the site. In the afternoon proceed for Kushinagar.
On arrival check into the hotel.
Day 5 : Kushinagar - Balrampur
The next morning visit the Nirvana Chaitya Ramabhar Stupa. Proceed to the Mukutbandhan-Chaitya, which is the cremation - place of Buddha. This Site is 1.5 km east of the main Nirvana Temple. Later proceed for Balrampur. En route also visit Lumbini the birthplace of the Lord Buddha.
Day 6 : Balrampur - Lucknow - Delhi
The next morning enjoy the sightseeing of Sahet Mahet, later proceed for Lucknow airport to catch a flight for Delhi.
Day 7 : Depart Delhi
The next morning after a leisurely breakfast proceed for a city tour of Old Delhi of the Mughals, comprising of the Red Fort & the Jama Masjid. Also visit Raj Ghat-The final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi.
Later transfer to the airport to board your homebound flight.
